Sir William Tyree established the Foundation in the early 1970s to support the causes closest to him: research and innovation, careers in engineering, and talented students who have experienced disadvantage. The Board he left behind still runs it that way.

Recent commitments include $7.5 million to the UNSW Nuclear Innovation Centre and $8 million to Powerhouse Parramatta.

The section order never changes: the sector's problem, what we supply, why Tyree, typical applications, proof, cross-links, conversion. That fixed order is what makes nine pages read as a system rather than nine unrelated pages.

Agriculture

Power at the end of the line, where a failure costs a season.

Farms sit at the far end of long rural feeders, often kilometres from the nearest substation, with voltage that sags under motor starting loads and equipment exposed to dust, heat, stock and weather. When a unit fails on an irrigation run in February, lead time matters more than price. That is the argument for a manufacturer down the road rather than a container on the water.

What agriculture needs from its electrical supply

Irrigation, dairy and processing loads are motor-heavy and start hard. On a weak rural feeder that means voltage dip, nuisance tripping and premature equipment wear, and the transformer has to be specified against starting current rather than nameplate demand alone.

The environment does the rest. Ambient temperatures well above standard design assumptions, airborne dust and chaff, corrosive fertiliser and effluent atmospheres, vermin and stock contact, and long stretches with nobody looking at the asset.

Then there is distance. A remote site with a failed transformer is off until a replacement arrives. Tyree manufactures in Australia and New Zealand and holds safety stock of key raw materials, so the replacement conversation is a production conversation rather than a shipping one.

Three paragraphs, one job each: the electrical problem, the environmental problem, the logistics problem. Around 150 words, and the section the current pages are missing entirely. Your engineers need to write or verify this for each of the nine.

The Sir William Tyree Foundation

A private philanthropic organisation that partners with eligible bodies to advance research and innovation, to raise awareness about careers in engineering and medical science, and to support talented students experiencing disadvantage in their education.

Funded by approximately 50% of Tyree Group profits.

The red band stays. This is the one place on the site where a flat red field does real work. The change is that the funding model is stated in the hero instead of appearing for the first time under Governance, seven screens down. It is the fact that makes everything below it credible.

History

Founded by Sir William (Bill) Tyree in 1946, the Tyree Group has grown to become one of the largest manufacturers of transformers in the Southern Hemisphere.

In the early 1970s Sir William established the Tyree Foundation to provide tangible support for the causes and projects closest to his heart.

Sir William was a passionate supporter of education, as well as medical science and engineering research.

The current Tyree Foundation Board honours his legacy by maintaining a strong focus on these important areas.

Governance

According to the vision of the late Sir William Tyree, the Tyree Group of Companies donates approximately 50% of its profits to the Foundation, which is overseen by a dedicated Board of Directors, led by Sir William's daughter Robyn Fennell.

Keep the accordion but name the directors in the collapsed state, or list them plainly. Board names are a trust signal for grant applicants and are currently hidden behind a click and invisible to search.
